Kitchen Assistant (Byron Arts & Industrial & Mullum)

We are looking for an experienced and outgoing Kitchen Assistant to join our team at our Byron Arts & Industrial estate and Mullum stores. This role is up to four shifts per week.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about our mission to be the guiding light of conscious change for good food, harmonious living and environmental action. You also should enjoy sharing your food knowledge, being part of a team and helping to grow the business.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Food handling safety standards are governed under the Food & Safety Health Act therefore at all times you must be aware of your obligations with all food preparation
  • Zero waste practices and guidelines in place and practiced by all
    Ensuring that all products made are of the highest organic quality and freshness
  • Food choices provided meet dietary requirements including vegan, dairy free, gluten free and paleo
  • Food production utilises as much as possible the seconds provided by the fruit and vegetable department
  • Ensuring that the preparation area is kept safe, clean and in good order during hours of food preparation
  • Recording any food waste on the appropriate forms provided
  • Organising and maintaining the cleanliness of the food preparation front and back of house
  • Safe food handling practices are exhibited throughout all food preparation
  • Following all reasonable directions in regards to work tasks issued by management
  • Ensure that WH&S and FH&S standards and legislation are met, maintained and followed

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Experience in a kitchen environment

Bulk Assistant (Byron Bay)

We are looking for a dedicated and committed bulk assistant to help coordinate the bulk department in our Byron Bay store. The role is casual 3 days per week in Byron Bay. Some weekends may be required.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about our mission to be the guiding light of conscious change for good food, harmonious living and environmental action. You also should enjoy providing distinctive customer service, sharing your product knowledge, being part of a team and helping grow the business.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in all bulk stock and procedures relating to bulk stock control, including purchasing and wastage
  • Answering and assisting customers to the very best of your ability and knowledge
  • Ensuring that all products made and/or sold are of the highest quality and freshness
  • Staying up to date and informed on all Santos bulk products so that you can help recommend, select and locate the right product for the customers’ needs
  • Comparing the prices of other bulk foods in other retail locations to inform management decision-making
  • Training and educating Santos retail assistants (and any other Santos staff required), in all bulk products, systems and procedures used at Santos
  • Ensuring that WH&S and Food Safety standards and legislation are maintained and followed
  • Organising and maintaining the cleanliness of the store and the bulk department
  • Ensuring that all systems and procedures for stock control are implemented and monitored
  • Arranging and maintaining merchandise on display, ensuring labelling is clear and correct
  • Implementing and monitoring all systems and procedures to reduce security issues, primarily in-store theft

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Experience with POS systems
  • Experience in a retail environment
  • Experience with customer service and sales
  • Enjoy working in a team environment
  • Be able to consistently lift boxes up to 20 kilos

People and Culture Manager (Mullumbimby Head Office)

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be a leader who can easily communicate effectively to all key stakeholders of the business including the Board of Directors, have demonstrated expertise in change management with a focus on improvement of systems and procedures to support our team.

As a strategic, forward thinking, experienced People & Culture Manager you will place importance on maintaining the positive, engaged and vibrant culture of our organisation whilst recognising the need for training and development to be implemented to achieve organisational goals. You will be an incredible communicator, empathic while keeping objective and have strong business acumen with the ability to frame communication effectively to achieve desired results.

Our People and Culture department is still in the development phase, it will be imperative to have a strong background and knowledge to create and cultivate this very needed role.

We are ultimately looking for a full-time candidate, but flexible to discuss options.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Create a value lead culture
  • Ensure Fair Work Act compliance
  • Empowering our team to lead and achieve the goals of the organisation through motivational training and development
  • Create and deliver training programs tailored to the needs of the business
  • Increase commitment through team engagement
  • Oversee and maintain our WH&S program
  • Drive the performance appraisal process
  • Responsible for strategic recruitment & inductions
  • Support the physical and mental health & well being of the team
  • Review of remunerations/bonus structures to ensure we reward thoughtfully
  • Provide recommendations on salary reviews as needed to stay competitive and attract talented team members
  • Lead conflict resolution and manage employee relations
  • Ensure the Policies and Procedures Manual is kept up to date and the team aware of any changes
  • Keep our job descriptions up to date, add and change as required
  • Ensure employee files and contracts are complete and compliant

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Bachelor degree or above in HR (or equivalent)
  • Experience in creation and delivery of training programs
  • Experience with recruitment and remuneration recommendations
  • Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • A solid understanding of HR issues including the Fair Work Act and how to work with them effectively
  • Ability to drive cultural change by delivering key HR projects to positively influence the organisation and get buy-in from the team
  • Confidence in coaching and mentoring all levels within the business
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required, helpful if you are familiar with Trello and Google Drive/Docs
  • Important to have a connection to our ethos (health, sustainability, NFP, community, etc.)
