Choosing an ethical gift
Why should we think ethically when choosing gifts?
In this consumer-driven world, we’ve all fallen into the spend spend spend mentality. However, we now realised that many of the gifts we buy are made unethically.
Some mass-produced products made overseas use sweat shop labour. Enormous amounts of plastic is used either in the products themselves, or in the surrounding packaging.
There is nothing better than the gift of giving, however it’s time we all started thinking more about environmentally sustainable gifts.
What makes a gift eco-friendly?
When you’re considering an eco-friendly birthday or Christmas gift, there are a few things to keep in mind.
For cosmetics and personal care products, you want to make sure they haven’t been tested on animals.
You should also check that any environmentally sustainable gift doesn’t contain any trace of palm oil and/or palm oil derivatives.
Check if a brand is on Fairtrade or whether they ethically source their ingredients. Another thing to keep in mind is whether they donate part of their profits to social causes.
At Santos Organics, we are 100% not for profit. Every carbon-neutral gift you buy from us will help support our local suppliers, reduce food miles and give you warm fuzzies 😊
Eek! I need an ethical gift, stat.
