Naturopath advice for stress and anxiety
We are continuing with our naturopathy highlights and this month we are looking into how naturopathic support can help with stress and anxiety.
Our in-store naturopaths share that there are many herbal remedies for the nervous system which act to counter stress. Rehmannia (Rehmannia glutinosa) is an adaptogen and restorative adrenal tonic useful when there is adrenal depletion. It also has an anti-inflammatory action and may be indicated for autoimmune disease.
Withania (Withania somnifera) also commonly called Aswaganda, is a revered Ayuvedic plant used for mellenium. It is a wonderful anti-stress herb being an adaptogen, nervine tonic and tonic. Withania is helpful where there is anxiety and stress, especially with debility and nervous exhaustion. Also helpful for anaemia, debility and convalescence it is a wonderful herb to use.
Schisandra (Schisandra chinensis) is another great herb for stressful times, most acclaimed in Chinese medicine for promoting longevity and increasing physical and mental stamina. Schisandra is an adagtogen and nervine tonic with the added action of protecting the liver against toxic damage.
All these herbs are available from Santos in the dried, powdered and/or liquid extract form. They can be combined and made into tea infusions or into a tincture mix form the naturopath. Santos also stocks pre-designed formulas from reputable companies to be taken in tablet or capsule form.
