Organic Coconut Sugar Tastes like cane sugar with a hint of flowers and caramel. Coconut palm sugar has nothing to do with Palm oil or the palm oil palms. In fact, the FAO (Food & Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations) claims that coconut sugar is the most sustainable sweetener in the world.
Coconut Sugar is the crystallised (evaporated) nectar of the tropical coconut palm tree blossom. Coconut sugar is mostly sucrose (about 70%) followed by glucose and fructose. Boasting a naturally low Glycemic Index (GI 35) that is almost half the GI of cane sugar (GI 68), lower than honey (GI 55) and agave (GI 42). Contains protein (12 amino acids) and minerals including potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, zinc and iron.
Organic Coconut Sugar is a versatile sweetener that can substitute cane sugar in many recipes. Coconut Sugar is most commonly used to make sweet foods such as cakes, muffins, raw treats, cookies and brownies. It also adds a nice sweet touch to hot beverages like coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Coconut sugar can also be used in savoury recipes including curries and stews.
We recommend storing in an airtight container in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. For those in warm climates, refrigeration is recommended.
