Job Summary
The overall responsibility of this position is to support the Store Manager to manage all aspects of the Santos Organics store. The Assistant Manager (AM) is responsible for ensuring quality consistency across the store to spread wholehearted goodness and to be the change makers of our community through donations and environmental projects by increasing sales revenue and our overall net profit.
You will work with our team and your Store Manager with integrity so that the team and customers know we are creating an inclusive community through providing a supportive and fun environment that empowers everyone to learn, grow, and thrive.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Reporting on product sales
- Ensuring excellent shop presentation, appealing merchandising and cleanliness throughout the store
- Ensuring the store’s shelves are fully stocked and out of stock items are labeled appropriately
- Using the purchase order system on POS
- Updating POS system with stock and order levels
- Coordinating with suppliers in regards to invoicing and credits
- Receiving orders efficiently and correctly
- Recording and managing product wastage
- Ensuring that the tills are continually monitored and attended
- Following opening and closing of the store procedures correctly and efficiently
- Opening and closing till, cash and float reconciliations
- Ensuring that the banking process is followed accurately
- General maintenance of the equipment is monitored and issues are resolved
- Monitoring the daily shift schedule for teams breaks and shift start/finish
- Communicating customer request and product trends to the GM
- Updating and print shelf talkers
- Replying to customer telephone and in-store queries
- Monitoring the balance of the floats
- Fostering teamwork amongst your store team & ensure team members are delivering distinctive customer service
- Conducting chat in’s at the beginning of every team members shift and ensuring that all team members are fully informed of any daily communications, their tasks and responsibilities
- Ensuring you and your team stay up to date and informed on all products
- Ensuring that you and your team are following the policies and procedures as provided in the SO Policy & Procedure Manual
- Enabling growth and development within your team and identify career pathways to your Store Manager where possible
- Act as a liaison between team and managers to ensure the transfer of information and smooth communications
- Reporting on strengths or weakness of team members to provide appropriate guidance, training and support to improve skills
- Increasing the team’s sales skills and performance
- Assisting the team and your Store Manager in resolving conflicts, both customer and team
- Working with the Store Manager to increase effectiveness and productivity of the team
- Being flexible to fill other team members’ roles as required (bulk, produce departments, etc.)
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills, knowledge and attributes:
- Experience in managing a team in a retail environment
- Experience with customer service and sales
- Enjoy working in a team environment
- Be able to consistently lift boxes up to 20 kilos, be on your feel for long periods of time and climb stairs and ladders regularly
