If you’re thinking more about what ingredients are in the beauty and skincare products you’re slathering on your skin, you’re not alone. Over the last few years, we’ve become more aware of the harmful preservatives and synthetics in personal care products. We now know that some of our favourite products have been hiding a heap of toxic ingredients. It’s not just our own health.

Many products use palm oil which has become a huge driver in deforestation and the loss of crucial animal habitats. These products also use an enormous amount of plastic packaging which pollute our oceans and adds to our devastating microplastic epidemic. It horrifies us, but fortunately, many natural personal care brands make non-toxic, effective products that don’t harm the environment.

I want to use natural bath and body products. What should I look out for?

As a natural body products store, we make sure our personal care and hygiene products are as natural as possible. We don’t stock any products containing toxic additives or ingredients such as synthetic chemicals, petrochemicals, and parabens.

We don’t stock any products containing unsustainable or untraceable palm oil and/or palm oil derivatives. We also make sure that none of our cosmetics or natural personal care products have been tested on animals.

What natural personal care brands should I try first?

If you’re wanting to dip your feet in the world of natural personal care, one place you could start is hygiene. Common deodorants include potentially toxic ingredients, but our deodorants are natural, antibacterial, and contain no nasties. Although some are fragrance-free, others are scented with essential oils and will leave you smelling divine. Who wouldn’t want to smell like a Tahitian breeze?! Another category to try is women’s hygiene. Our pads, tampons, and menstrual cups are organic and use as little packaging as possible.
