Ceres Organics Ground Flaxseed 250g
Certified organic golden flaxseed, stone-ground and ready to use. Nothing added.
Ceres Organics Ground Flaxseed is made from 100% certified organic golden flaxseeds (linseeds), ground into a fine, sandy-textured meal. Flaxseed is one of the most concentrated plant sources of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a type of omega-3 fatty acid, alongside dietary fibre and protein. Ceres mills the seed whole, keeping the natural oils intact, and packages it in home compostable packaging. Certified organic and GE-free by BioGro New Zealand.
Ground flaxseed is also one of the most reliable egg-free binders in plant-based baking. One tablespoon mixed with three tablespoons of water and left for five minutes produces a gel with similar binding properties to a whole egg, without any flavour transfer. It's the flax egg that plant-based bakers reach for in dense, moist bakes like brownies, banana bread, and muffins.
Why people love it
- Certified organic golden flaxseed, single ingredient
- Source of omega-3 fatty acids (ALA), dietary fibre, and plant-based protein
- Pre-ground for maximum convenience and better absorption than whole seeds
- Reliable egg-free binder for plant-based baking
- Mild, slightly nutty flavour that blends into most foods without altering the taste
- GE-free, certified by BioGro New Zealand
- Home compostable packaging
- 250g resealable bag
How to use it
In food and drinks:
- Stir a tablespoon into porridge, yoghurt, or overnight oats
- Blend into smoothies — it thickens slightly and adds a subtle nuttiness
- Sprinkle over granola, muesli, or acai bowls
- Mix into homemade bread, muffin, or pancake batter
- Add to energy balls and bliss balls as a binder and nutrient boost
- Stir into soup or stew to add body without altering flavour
As a flax egg (egg-free baking binder):
Mix 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed with 3 tablespoons of water. Stir well and leave for 5 minutes until it forms a gel. Use in place of one whole egg in dense baked goods including brownies, banana bread, muffins, cookies, and veggie patties. Works best in recipes that don't rely on eggs for lift, as it binds but doesn't aerate.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, keep sealed and refrigerate for best freshness — ground flaxseed contains natural oils that can oxidise at room temperature. Use within 3 months of opening for best flavour and nutritional quality. Whole flaxseeds keep longer; ground flaxseed has a shorter shelf life due to increased surface area exposure.

Santos Organics significantly impacts the local community and economy. Over the last three years, our investments in local employment, goods from local suppliers and distributors, rent, and hiring local tradespeople have retained over $26 million within the Northern Rivers. In the past year alone, $5.3 million was circulated back into the local economy through these efforts, supporting over 100 Northern Rivers-based suppliers and distributors. This investment sustains our community's vitality and unique culture.
