Organic Coriander Whole It is native to southern Europe and the Middle East. Coriander is another ancient spice that has been found in the tombs of Pharaohs and known to a favourite among the ancient Greeks, Hebrews and Romans. Coriander grew in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and love potions were made from it in the Middle Ages. The fresh leaves and dried seeds are commonly used in curries, cakes, sweet mixed spice and tagine spice blends.The seeds have a lemony citrus flavour when crushed and are described as “warm, nutty and spicy”. Roasted coriander seeds are eaten as a snack and is also used as an alternative to caraway in rye bread. Medicinally, coriander seeds are used to treat colic and ease flatulence and diarrhoea. It assist with stimulating appetite and producing digestive juices. Medicinal Tea: Pour boiling water over a teaspoon of crushed coriander seeds and let sit covered for 10 minutes. Drink before meals.
