SO Organic Australian Peanut Butter 1kg
Most peanut butter has a longer ingredient list than it should. Palm oil to stop it separating. Added sugar to make it sweeter. Salt, stabilisers, emulsifiers. Sometimes less than 90% actual peanuts.
This one has one ingredient: organic Australian peanuts.
That's it. We grind them ourselves in-store at Santos using a Durst peanut butter mill — peanuts go in one end, peanut butter comes out the other, straight into the jar. No heat treatment, no additives, no stabilisers, nothing added at any point in the process. What you get is pure, fresh-ground peanut butter with a rich, roasted flavour and a natural texture that no commercial product quite matches.
The peanuts are Australian-grown and ACO certified organic, which means no synthetic pesticides, no herbicides, and no chemical fertilisers. Peanuts grow underground and absorb whatever is in the soil around them - which makes organic certification genuinely meaningful for this crop in a way it isn't for everything.
Because there are no stabilisers, the natural oils will separate and rise to the top. This is completely normal and a good sign. Stir before use and store in the fridge after opening to keep it fresh and slow the separation.
How to use it: on toast, stirred into porridge, blended into smoothies, as the base of a satay sauce, mixed into salad dressings, eaten straight from the jar with a spoon. It also freezes well - portion it into an ice cube tray for smoothie-ready serves.
