SO Organic Medjool Dates 1kg
The king of dates. Large, soft, richly flavoured Medjool dates with a natural honey-caramel sweetness and a melt-in-the-mouth texture. ACO certified organic. 1kg bag.
Medjool dates are the premium date variety - larger, softer, and more flavourful than the common Deglet Noor dates found in most supermarkets. Where Deglet Noor dates are firm, dry, and mildly sweet, Medjool dates are almost custard-soft, deeply sweet with a complex honey and caramel flavour, and rich enough to eat on their own as a dessert. The difference is immediate and obvious.
Santos Organics Medjool Dates are ACO certified organic, sun-dried to retain their natural moisture and flavour, and sold as whole dates with pits intact. The pit is a natural part of the fruit and contributes to the soft, plump flesh surrounding it during storage.
Source of dietary fibre, potassium, vitamin B6, manganese, copper, calcium, magnesium, and non-heme iron.
Important: these dates contain pits. Not suitable for young children’s lunchboxes. Always check and remove the pit before serving to children or adding to blended recipes.

How to use them
As a snack: eat straight from the bag, or stuff with nut butter (almond, peanut, or cashew), a walnut, or a piece of dark chocolate for a simple and satisfying snack. The pit is easy to remove by pressing the date gently and pulling it out.
As a natural sweetener:
- Bliss balls and energy balls: blend with oats, cacao, and nut butter as the binding sweetener - no added sugar needed
- Baked goods: blended into a paste with warm water as a refined sugar substitute in cakes, muffins, brownies, and slices
- Smoothies and smoothie bowls: blend one or two dates into a smoothie for natural sweetness without added sugar
- Raw caramel sauce: blend pitted Medjool dates with coconut milk, vanilla, and a pinch of sea salt for a naturally sweet caramel sauce over ice cream, banana bread, or pancakes
- Porridge and overnight oats: chop and stir through before serving alongside cinnamon and nuts
- Stuffed dates: fill with cream cheese, ricotta, or nut butter and serve on cheese boards or as an appetiser

Storage
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Medjool dates keep well at room temperature for up to 3 months. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to 12 months - the cold firms the texture slightly but does not affect flavour. Bring to room temperature before eating for the softest texture.
