These Organic Red Split Lentils are Certified Organic. Red Split Lentils are low in fat and combined with a grain like Amaranth or Rice, give you a complete protein meal mix. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, lentils have a neutral thermal nature and are beneficial to the heart, circulation, stimulate adrenal function and increase the vitality of the kidneys. Lentils have been part of man’s diet for over 4000 years. Unlike many legumes Red Split Lentils need no pre-soaking as they are split into two halves, yet we still recommend rinsing the lentils prior to cooking to assure no debris are present. Red Split Lentils are by far the quickest and easiest to cook of the lentil family and become quite mushy making them ideal for purees, dhal, soups, stews and quick meals. You can use them to make Nonnas Lentil, Fennel & Celery Soup. We recommend storing these lentils in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
