Spiral Foods Organic Tamari Salt Reduced 500ml

$14.95

A naturally fermented Japanese tamari with around 40% less sodium than regular soy sauce. Same deep, savoury flavour. No wheat, no gluten, no MSG.

Spiral Foods Organic Salt Reduced Tamari is made the traditional Japanese way: whole organic soybeans, water, sea salt, and time. Tamari is the liquid that rises to the surface during miso fermentation. Unlike most commercial soy sauces, it contains no wheat, which makes it naturally gluten free and gives it a richer, rounder, more complex flavour than standard shoyu.

The salt reduced version delivers the same depth of flavour as the regular Spiral tamari at significantly lower sodium, making it the better everyday option for households watching salt intake without wanting to compromise on taste.

Spiral Foods has been importing and distributing Japanese organic foods in Australia since the 1970s, founded in Melbourne by a group committed to macrobiotic eating. Their tamari is produced in Japan from certified organic soybeans and is one of the most consistently stocked tamari brands in the Australian natural foods market.

  • Dipping sauce: straight from the bottle for sushi, sashimi, gyoza, spring rolls, and rice paper rolls
  • Stir-fries and Asian cooking: splash in at the end for a deep, savoury finish
  • Marinades: combine with ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and rice vinegar for a fast marinade for tofu, tempeh, chicken, or salmon
  • Dressings: whisk into a simple tamari, lemon, olive oil, and sesame dressing for salads and noodles
  • Teriyaki: the backbone of any teriyaki sauce, with mirin and a small amount of honey or maple
  • Roasting: brush onto vegetables, mushrooms, or cauliflower steaks before roasting
  • Crackers and rice cakes: a light brush of tamari is a classic macrobiotic snack
