Chia seeds are incredibly nutrient-rich and most notably an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. They are also full of antioxidants, dietary fibre, protein and a good balance of essential amino acids.
A common way to use chia seeds is to soak 1 part chia seeds in 9 parts water/milk for 5-10 minutes or overnight for puddings. The liquid will turn gelatinous making a great breakfast pudding or addition to smoothies. These humble seeds can also be sprouted and used similarly to alfalfa sprouts in salads, sandwiches and other dishes.
