SO Organic Dried Sultanas 1kg

$24.95

Sun-dried Australian organic sultanas with nothing added. No sulphur dioxide, no oil, no preservatives. The bulk size for households and regular bakers.

Santos Organics Organic Dried Sultanas are grown and sun-dried in Australia, certified organic by ACO. Most commercial sultanas are treated with sulphur dioxide (220) to preserve their golden colour and extend shelf life, and coated in vegetable oil to prevent clumping in the bag. These have neither. The colour is naturally darker and more amber than the conventional golden sultana, which is the honest colour of a properly dried grape without chemical assistance. The flavour is sweeter, more intensely fruity, and more complex.

The 1kg bag is the bulk size for families, regular bakers, and anyone who goes through a 500g bag in a week. Better value per gram than the 500g, and enough to last through a season of baking.

Why people love them

  • Certified organic, ACO certified
  • Australian grown and sun-dried
  • No sulphur dioxide (no preservative 220)
  • No added oil or coating
  • Naturally amber to dark golden colour (the sulphur-free colour is the real one)
  • Sweet, intensely fruity flavour from proper sun-drying
  • Naturally vegan, gluten free, and dairy free
  • 1kg bulk bag, best value per gram in the Santos sultana range

How to use them

  • Snacking: straight from the bag on their own or mixed into a trail mix with nuts and seeds
  • Baking: fruit cake, Christmas pudding, scones, muffins, banana bread, ANZAC biscuits, and oat slice
  • Breakfast: stirred through porridge, overnight oats, or muesli
  • Granola: mixed through homemade granola before or after baking
  • Cooking: added to Moroccan tagines, Middle Eastern rice dishes, and slow-cooked lamb or chicken
  • Lunchboxes: a reliable, no-mess snack for children's lunchboxes
  • Cheese boards: paired with aged cheese, particularly sharp cheddar or manchego

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Seal the bag tightly after opening. Sulphur-free sultanas have a slightly shorter shelf life than conventional varieties. For the 1kg size, decant a working portion into a smaller airtight container for daily use and keep the main bag sealed. Best consumed within 3 months of opening. Refrigerate to extend freshness, or freeze in portions for up to 12 months.
