Organic Ceylon Cinnamon Powder is considered a spice derived from the bark of the Cinnamon tree but may also be used therapeutically. Cinnamon is said to be one of the oldest spices with references dating back 2500 years to the land of the Pharaohs in Egypt. Cinnamon is used in cakes, sweet pastries and biscuits, stewed fruits, curries, drinks such as chai, moroccan tagines and preserved lemons. Yum!
Therapeutically, ceylon cinnamon contains anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Ceylon cinnamon may assist in relieving nausea, vomiting and diarrhea due to it's mild astringency. It is also used to bring heat to the body and sooth coughs.
