What you need to know about organic sauces and spreads

What makes a healthy sauce?

It’s true, many store-bought sauces are not very healthy. They’re usually full of sugar or salt and have loads of preservatives.

At Santos Organics, we have a large range of organic sauces that are good for you and taste amazing. Whether you want an organic tomato sauce ketchup for your sausages or a healthy pasta sauce, we have a great range.

We haven’t forgotten about the vegans either! If you’re wanting to whip up a vegan stir fry sauce, we have vegan fish sauce and vegan soy sauce.

Why choose organic nut butter over supermarket varieties?

The old peanut butter has become more than just part of a soggy sandwich in the lunchbox. Nut butters are now a legitimate health food because they’re high in protein, antioxidants, phytochemicals, and have lots of healthy unsaturated fats.

Some supermarket nut butters contain preservatives and extra oils like palm oil or rapeseed oil to make it easier to spread. Our organic nut butters don’t contain any of these nasties.

If you want the healthiest nut butter to eat, we consider almond butter slightly healthier thanks to its higher healthy fat content.

How can I use organic nut butters in cooking?

There are so many ways to use organic nut butters. You can use Macadamia spread as an alternative to butter, so you can spread it on your toast and you can also cook with it.

You can stir organic peanut butter into sauces for added thickness and flavour. You can also pair it with snacks such as apple slices or cheese for an additional protein punch.

If you or your family are allergic to peanuts or tree nuts, you can always use organic tahini which is a seed butter. It’s a popular organic sauce for meat and vegetables in middle eastern cuisine and is great in hummus.

How do I store organic sauce and spreads?

After opening, store your organic sauce and spreads in a sealed container and refrigerate.

It’s also important to note that many spreads such as nut butters can separate in the jar. This is totally normal! Just give them a good stir before you spread them on your toast.
