MURUMURU palm trees grow in Brazil and around the Amazon and are one of the dominant trees in this region. The nutritious, edible fruits are an important local food source and materials made from the tree, fruit, and seed kernels are commercially significant to the region. Murumuru butter is moisturizing, film-forming and glossy, leaving a protective layer on the skin similar to silicone, only it does not clog the pores. These qualities make it very protective. It contains vitamins and has a high content of oleic acid. The oil from the seeds is traditionally used to soften and protect hair. Murumuru butter is the white to yellowish fat obtained from the seeds of the murumuru palm.
CUPUASSU is a native species of the Amazon basin, cultivated in the jungles of Colombia, Bolivia and Peru and in the north of Brazil; it is a luxurious moisturizer related to the cacao plant. The butter is cold-pressed from seeds that fall from the tree during the rainy season in the region where trees grow abundantly – this luxurious, nourishing butter is packed with phytosterols that can help support collagen and elastin.
