Plastic Free July is here, and what a better time to learn to make your own deodorant paste! Besides reducing your plastic consumption (let’s face it, it’s basically impossible to find a deodorant in the supermarket that’s not in plastic packaging), you will also be sure to not have any nasty chemicals in your home-made paste.

1/4 cup Organic Arrowroot Powder
1/4 cup Organic Shea Butter (room temp or melted)
1 tsp Organic Coconut Oil (room temp or melted)
1 tsp Australian Bentonite Clay
10 drops Essential Oil (Lemon Myrtle, Tea tree, Eucalyptus, Rose or Lavender – avoid citrus if going in sun)
1/4 cup Bicarbonate of Soda (optional, add extra arrowroot powder if omitting)

Mix all ingredients together with the back of a spoon until it resembles a creamy paste (like cake icing). Pour into re-used clean container or jar with a wide mouth.

Apply a small amount to underarms with fingers after showering/ in the morning. Omit bicarb soda if an irritation occurs and replace with arrowroot powder instead.
